About the company
Origin Property Public Company Limited is a listed Bangkok developer. It was founded in December 2009 by the Jaroon-ek family (Peerapong and Arda Jaroon-ek), and its shares began trading on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) on 7 October 2015 under the ticker ORI. The company’s office is in Bhiraj Tower at BITEC in Bangkok’s Bang Na district; its registered address is in neighbouring Samut Prakan province.
The core of the business has always been condominiums along Bangkok’s metro and Skytrain lines and in the suburbs. The company runs several brands, including The Origin, SO Origin, Origin Place, Park Origin, KnightsBridge and Brixton. Origin also has a hotel arm: in 2020 it opened Staybridge Suites Bangkok Thonglor, developed with Japan’s Nomura Real Estate Development, and Holiday Inn & Suites Sriracha–Laemchabang.
What their projects are like
Outside Bangkok, Origin is active in Chonburi province (Sriracha, Bang Saen, Pattaya) and in Phuket. Its SO Origin resort projects share a template: several eight-storey buildings around a pool courtyard, clubhouse amenities and a large number of compact units, starting from studios of about 26 sqm. By resort standards this is a volume format — 500 to 800 units per project, designed to work both as homes and as rentals.
Projects in Thailand
- SO Origin Kata — four eight-storey buildings on almost 6 rai with 686 units, about 500 m from Kata Beach.
- SO Lagoon Cherngtalay by Origin — three residential buildings and a clubhouse in Cherngtalay (Bang Tao area), 511 units from 26 sqm studios to 105 sqm three-bedrooms. Boat Avenue is about 500 m away, Bang Tao Beach 2.2–2.5 km.
- SO Origin Pattaya — three eight-storey buildings and 790 units on Sukhumvit Road, with direct access to the motorway.
- In Phuket the company is also building Origin Place Centre Phuket, The Origin Kathu-Patong, SO Origin Bangtao Beach and Origin Residences Phuket Bangtao; in Chonburi, The Origin Pattaya, KnightsBridge The Ocean Sriracha and the Brixton projects in Bang Saen and Sriracha.
What buyers should check
- Transparency. As a listed company, Origin publishes its financial statements through the SET, so you can review them before buying; construction progress reports for its projects are posted on the official website.
- Who the seller is. Origin develops through project subsidiaries (for example, Origin Pattaya Sukhumvit 1 Company Limited), so the seller in your contract may not be the parent company. Clarify this up front.
- Parking. According to Origin, parking covers roughly 30% of units at SO Origin Kata, 50% at SO Lagoon and 25% at SO Origin Pattaya. If you need a car, secure a space before you buy.
- Rental competition. Hundreds of similar studios and one-bedrooms in one project mean rents and resale prices are set by your neighbours’ listings.
- Foreign quota. These resort projects sell to foreigners too, and foreign ownership is capped at 49% of the floor area — confirm which quota your unit falls under.
