Axis

Axis – listed elsewhere as The Axis Pattaya or Axis Pattaya Condo – is a high-rise residential complex on Thappraya Road, on the eastern, landward side of Pratamnak Hill. It was developed by Sam Sum Property and completed in 2014. The project consists of two buildings, the taller of which rises 20 storeys, with 430 apartments in total. Axis condominium in Pratamnak, Pattaya is an urban address: its strengths are height, views and a position on the main road between South Pattaya and Jomtien rather than closeness to a beach.

Location

The complex stands at the highest point of Thappraya Road, where it crosses the hill by the turning to the Big Buddha temple; the temple itself is only about 250 m away in a straight line. Songthaews (shared pick-up taxis) on the Pattaya–Jomtien route pass the entrance day and night, so both parts of town are easy to reach without a car. This is not a seaside building: the nearest beaches, on the Pratamnak and Dongtan side, are about 1.3 km away in a straight line and further by road. Pattaya Park is roughly 1 km away, Walking Street and Bali Hai Pier about 2 km, and Central Festival Pattaya Beach, Big C and Lotus's in South Pattaya around 3 km. Thappraya Road itself is lined with restaurants and small shops, and there is a 7-Eleven a few steps from the complex.

Apartments

The buildings contain studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments and a number of duplex units. Typical sizes on the resale market are about 38 sq m for a studio and about 44 sq m for a one-bedroom apartment; two-bedroom layouts start at around 58 sq m, and the largest of them, along with the duplexes, exceed 100 sq m. The lots in the More Property catalogue measure 65 to 76 sq m. Because the complex sits on high ground, upper floors have open views of the city and the bay, and some apartments see the sea; lower floors face the road and the hillside. Resale apartments are usually offered furnished, with a fitted kitchen and a balcony.

Who it suits

Axis is chosen by people who care about city logistics and a view from height: the centre and Jomtien are equally easy to reach, and public transport stops at the door. It works for permanent living, for wintering and for long-term letting. It is less suitable for anyone who wants to walk to the beach, and windows onto a busy road are a reason to choose the side and the floor carefully. As in any Thai condominium, up to 49% of the total unit area may be registered in foreign freehold ownership (the foreign quota); the rest is held under the Thai quota or through a company.
