Riviera Wongamat

Riviera Wongamat (officially The Riviera Wongamat Beach) is a large high-rise complex in the Wongamat area of North Pattaya. It was built by The Riviera Group as the company's first major project. The scheme was unveiled in 2013 and completed in 2017: the South Tower has 43 floors, the North Tower has 40, and together they hold 979 units. Riviera Wongamat condominium in Wongamat, Pattaya is one of the most recognisable buildings in the north of the city, with resort-style grounds and a wide choice of resale apartments.

Location

The complex is on Soi Naklua 16, opposite the Ananya condominium. The plot of about 8 rai lies in the middle of the block, so this is not a front-line building: Wongamat Beach is about 300 m away on the map, roughly a five-minute walk. Advertisements often say '200 m' or 'steps from the beach'; in practice it is a little further. Tops Daily and FamilyMart stores, cafes and restaurants are close by, and the Sanctuary of Truth is about 750 m away in a straight line. The Terminal 21 mall and the Dolphin Roundabout are about 2 km away, a few minutes by car, and songthaews on Naklua Road run to central Pattaya.

Facilities

The shared areas are the project's strong point.

• gardens and poolside seating areas;
• lobby with reception and retail units on site;

• 24-hour security, CCTV and key-card access.

Apartments

The complex is dominated by compact formats: studios of 27–31 sq m and one-bedroom apartments of 35–50 sq m. Two-bedroom apartments measure 70–84 sq m, and there are also three-bedroom and combined units. The More Property catalogue currently lists units from 27 to 35 sq m. The towers are oriented so that as many apartments as possible face the sea, but the view depends on the tower, side and floor: lower levels look onto the garden and neighbouring buildings, higher ones onto the bay and Koh Larn. Resale apartments are usually offered with furniture and appliances.

Who it suits

Riviera Wongamat is most often chosen for holidays and for letting: small apartments, resort-grade grounds and a beach within walking distance fit that scenario well. For a family living here permanently, the two-bedroom layouts are more practical. Anyone looking for an intimate setting should look at the low-rise buildings nearby. In 2016 the project won a Thailand Property Award as the best luxury condominium on the Eastern Seaboard. It should not be confused with The Riviera Palm Beach Wongamat, a newer project by the same developer. In Thai condominiums up to 49% of the saleable area may be owned by foreigners (the foreign quota), with the rest under the Thai quota or a company.
