View Talay 8

View Talay 8 is one of the largest residential buildings in Jomtien: a 30-storey block with 1,186 units, completed in 2008. It continues the View Talay series that is familiar to anyone who has looked at property in Pattaya; according to the listing portals, it was built by the same developer as View Talay 3, 5 and 7. View Talay 8 condominium in Jomtien, Pattaya stands at the southern end of the beach, close to Chaiyapruek Road, and remains one of the best-known addresses on the resale market thanks to its generous studios, large pool and short walk to the sea.

Location

The building sits between Soi Jomtien 13 and Soi Jomtien 14, one row back from the seafront. Jomtien Beach Road and the sand are roughly 100–150 m away, depending on which wing you start from; the first row here is taken by low-rise hotels and cafés, so you reach the sea along a short lane. Chaiyapruek Road is about 220 m away and leads out to Sukhumvit Road (around 1.5 km), while Jomtien Second Road is some 340 m inland. 7-Eleven stores, seafood restaurants and cafés are close by. In a straight line it is about 1.8 km to Jomtien Night Market, 2.3 km to Underwater World, 2.6 km to Pattaya Floating Market and roughly 5.5 km to Walking Street.

Who it suits

View Talay 8 suits buyers who care more about floor area and being near the beach than about a brand-new building: for wintering, year-round living or long-term letting. It is a big, busy community, which is worth bearing in mind if you prefer something small and quiet. As in any Thai condominium, up to 49% of the total unit area can be registered in foreign freehold ownership (the foreign quota); the rest is held under the Thai quota or through a company.
